We hope our junior players will continue their love of cricket as they move through the junior age groups and through this we aim to provide the progression into senior cricket for those identified as being ready. The ECB's policy states a junior is eligible to play in 'Open Age Group Cricket' once they are in the Under 13 age group (their age should be correct to the group and not 'playing up'), however all juniors will progress differently and so one may be ready before another.
In order to transition into senior cricket our senior captains and senior manager will observe junior cricket training and matches. They will also take junior coaches recommendations when selecting senior teams.
Factors that will be considered are:
Experience
Skills
Ability
Player safety
Emotional maturity.
We understand juniors early experiences will remain with them and often determine their love for the game and whether they continue so we aim to be as supportive as possible and offer praise and encouragement. If you have any questions on transition into senior cricket, please speak to one of the junior coaches or contact [email protected]
